Family Table — Maasai Mara, Kenya
There is no hierarchy at the family table. Just presence.
This image captures an elephant herd mid-feed — matriarch standing tall at the centre, calves tucked close, the whole family moving slowly through golden savannah grass beneath a wide Maasai Mara sky. It is an ordinary moment in the life of a herd, and yet it is everything: the quiet ritual of nourishment, the unspoken bond between generations, the unhurried pace of a family that has nowhere else to be.
African elephants are the world’s largest land animals and among its most emotionally complex. They grieve, they remember, they protect. A herd is not just a group — it is a living, breathing family unit led by the wisdom of its eldest female. Yet across Africa, elephant populations continue to decline due to habitat loss and poaching. Every herd you see is a small miracle.
Family Table is a celebration of that miracle — of life gathered together, feeding, breathing, belonging.
Photographed on location in the Maasai Mara, Kenya.
